Assignment 5: Exquisite Corpse
An exercise inspired by a surrealist game, «Cadavre Exquis», in which players randomly draw three words from the dictionary or fold paper and blindly complete each other’s drawings. Students execute the latter to collaboratively design characters. This removal of predetermined preference in subject matter allows students to explore the means at their disposal to craft original characters. Following this first phase, students will select a piece to finish individually in an attempt to both harmonise the parts and preserve some of the pleasingly grotesque aspects of the original exquisite corpse drawing.
